Food has never been this popular - at least that is my opinion. These days you don't have to go to a restaurant to find food (well you have for actual food if you want to eat) you can find tons of food pics on every type of social media platform you can think of. Yes food is quite the star and its not just for ingestion but also for topical use as well.

Our post today is all about food that is good for topical use on your face. Your face will also benefit from a healthy diet derived from a variety of whole foods and remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. But now let's get into some of the foods that when applied directly to your skin can do wonders for your face.

  1. Honey - yes honey, honey is great for your face. But you have to get the best quality raw (organic) honey. Not that stuff they sell in the store - even if it says raw/organic - but try to find a local honey producer so you can get the unpasteurized stuff. This type of honey has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which helps you have clear unblemished skin. Honey is also great for sealing in moisture being that it is a natural humectant so it is a great option for persons with dry skin.
  2. Eggs - both the whites and the yolks. Egg whites are rich in protein and water and help to tighten the skin and the yolks are high in vitamin A which help with skin repair.
  3. Citrus Fruits - this also includes strawberries and kiwi. The acidity in these fruits help to brighten the skin tone while helping to clear excess oil from the skin. After using these fruits on your face its is important to remember to moisturize.
  4. Milk Products - Lactic acid from milk products are great for exfoliation and they are also high in B vitamins providing antioxidant benefits.
  5. Oatmeal - grind up that oatmeal into a powder and take it to your face! It is a good anti-inflammatory and so is great for acne.
  6. Sugar - sugar is a great natural exfoliant but you already knew that so we can stop right here about sugar.
  7. Castor Oil - This is great for all skin types including those with oily skin. Right here we are going to speak about the oil cleansing method. You mix the castor oil with these oils based on yoru sking type"
    • Grapeseed or Jojoba oil for Normal Skin
    • Avocado or Apricot Kernel oil for Dry Skin
    • Sweet Almond Oil or Sunflower oil for Oily Skin
    • Sunflower or Hazlenut oil for skin that is prone to acne
Which food products are you using on your face that are not mentioned here?
